Traditionally, the bride and groom-to-be make their wedding plans official by sending out wedding invitations. In advance of this, though, couples have the option to send out a pre-invitation taster otherwise known as a ‘save the date’ card – providing a great opportunity to persuade guests.
Here at Wedfest we LOVE wedding save the date cards and we have been working away designing loads of save the dates over the years and here is a showcase of some of our favourites and some of our latest wedding save the date designs…. feast your eyes…..
It’s not enough to simply print your names and the date of the big day, however. The card must sell your wedding as a unique experience by incorporating a specific theme and design. The following lists some of the reasons why save the date wedding cards can be a good option and we also showcase some of our beautiful wedding festival save the date cards, which lets face it, if any of these super awesome save the date cards came through your letterbox you are instantly going to that wedding, no questions asked!!!
Intrigued guests
In the same way a concert or film is advertised months before its release, a save the date card can entice guests while mentioning very little. While the cards may feature little info, they still give you the opportunity to intrigue potential guests into attending. You may not be able to mention your full music set or the sumptuous menu options, but you can give people a flavour of what your big day will entail by reflecting you chosen theme.
As you can see by some of the themes in the photos some weddings will be taking place in Barns, Fields, Farms, Beaches etc. It is very easy to give your wedding guests just a slight taster of your wedding with your save the date cards… enough to wet their lips and wonder what other surprises or amazing things have you in store for your guests on your big day.
Save the date cards should emphasise the kind of excitement and atmosphere that guests can expect on your wedding day. Your big day is more than just a celebration of your union as a couple, after all; it is also a chance to let your hair down and experience a fun day with those closest to you. If you have a theme earmarked for your wedding, a save the date card can be a great way to set the tone for potential guests. An eye-catching design will stay in people’s minds and remind them to RSVP. Summer weddings, for example, might consider adopting a concert flyer design for their cards or a festival poster detailing a line-up of the main attractions throughout the day.
Extra consideration
Sending save the date cards at the earliest opportunity is a very courteous gesture. Invitations typically give guests roughly two to three months notice but sending wedding save the date cards up to a year before your wedding date will give your invited guests plenty of time to fit their plans around your big day.
All weddings involve some form of travel and accommodation arrangements, so guests will appreciate any extra time you can give them. If you are having your wedding ceremony abroad, for example, try to keep in mind that guests are more likely to attend if they can grab cheaper flight tickets and they may only be able do so if they’re given time to book in advance.
Good time management
Save the date cards will not only benefit your guests, they can also make your wedding plans a little less stressful to deal with. By sending out early tasters you will hopefully receive a few early replies, meaning that any issues with things like food allergies or special arrangements can be ironed out almost immediately. By the time you send out your actual wedding invitations, you may be able to provide your guests with more interesting info. What better pre-wedding gift to the anxious bride and groom than restoring a sense of control?
