Dave and Aimee’s Festival Wedding at Dovecote Barn at Bo Peep Farm, Adderbury
We are in the thick of festival wedding season right now here at Wedfest so it is usually difficult to get the website and posts updated at this time of year, however we have been sitting on this one for a while so wanted to get it up for everyone to see as we love it and you will too! Wedding photos are by Simon Atkins, check out more of his work at: www.weddingphotojournalist.co.uk
Dave and Aimee got in touch with us last year telling us they wanted to throw a festival themed wedding called MILLSFEST! Mills being their married surname. They wanted to create awesome festival wedding invitations and wedding stationery for their festival wedding and as always they came to the right place.
The couple wanted a colourful festival vibe throughout the wedding stationery and wanted it to be memorable.
Festival Wedding Save the Date Wristbands
The first thing we did for the couple was make them festival wedding wristbands for their wedding save the dates. They wanted to give their guests a little teaser of what to expect so this was the perfect little introduction of what to expect from the couples wedding.
The wristbands were beautifully colourful and had the words SAVE THE DATE over the main part of the wristband and the couples names and wedding date on the tails. It is worth mentioning at this point no one knew there was going to be a festival themed wedding, only the immediate family…
Festival Wedding Invitations
Next up for the wedding stationery was sending out the wedding invites. The wedding invitations were of course our famous festival ticket wedding invitations. The invites started to give away a little bit more information about the wedding including the title – MILLSFEST.
The wedding invites were super bright and colourful and featured a festival style design with brightly coloured skylines in pink, green, yellow and orange. They featured details of the wedding ceremony venue and the RSVP cards asked guests if they would like to camp, glamp or stay in a caravan etc. so the plot was starting to thicken about what was in store for Aimee and Dave’s wedding guests.
The wedding invites were in our festival ticket style so the guests were able to easily detach the perforated ticket stub / rsvp card and send it back to the couple.
Festival Bride with Orange Shoes
Yes that looks even better than it sounds and it sounds great! The beautiful Festival Bride Aimee wore a gorgeous made to measure lace dress complete with flower crown garland and had amazing glittery orange shoes, which is Dave’s favourite colour.
Aimee was every inch the perfect Bride as you can see in her beautiful photos. The festival groom himself also matched Aimee with his awesome colourful orange tie and super funky orange sneakers. Top look from a top man!!
Festival Wedding TiPi Tents Reception
Once the guests had all gathered and the ceremony was complete in the Barn, the big secret was revealed to the wedding guests that the wedding reception was taking place right behind the Barn in giant festival teepee tents.
On the festival site they have festival flags, signposts, sunflowers, hay bales fire pits, photo booths, live bands, giant festival letters spelling out MILLSFEST and much, much more festival fun to create the ultimate festival wedding day.
Festival Wedding Table Plan
Of course we had one more thing to provide and that was this gorgeous festival wedding seating plan which let all of the wedding guests find out what table they were sitting at. The wedding table names were named after magical places from literature, film and television such as Winterfell, Oz, Middle Earth, Neverland, Hogwarts, Wonderland and many more.
Dave’s sister also made signs and mini signposts as the wedding centre pieces and Aimee’s brother made each centre piece into a different fantasy world – showing their love of sci-fi and all things hobbity! Further to that their wedding rings were even made by the jeweller who made the ACTUAL ring for the Lord of the Rings film in New Zealand and we had an Elfish inscription inside – ‘One ring to forever bind them’. Awesome right!!
Rock n Roll Bride Leather Jacket Vibes
Aimee also wanted to add a rock n roll bride twist to her day and had a special rock n roll bride leather jacket made and had matching ones for her bridesmaids, super cool looking as you can see in the photos…
Festival Wedding Fun
The couples wedding was a huge success and Aimee told us that “People commented that they felt they were at a festival where two people happened to be getting married, which was exactly what we wanted!” You can’t ask for more than that.
The photos of the wedding are amazing and we were so happy to be involved for our bit of creating the wedding stationery. We would like to thank Aimee and Dave for sharing the photos with us and wish them all the best for their future together.
