Sarah & Joe’s Glastonbury Festival Inspired Teepee Wedding
The title of this blog is long but to be honest it could have been longer as there is so many words that could be used to describe this wedding. Yes the wedding is Glastonbury Festival Inspired and there is plenty of background to that, yes this wedding is colourful, but colourful doesn’t even do it justice, it is an explosion of colour!
Yes it was held in huge Wedding Tipi Tents  in an amazing location by a lake. Yes it was a full on festival wedding. And Yes there was nod’s to the Queen of Pop Kylie Minogue (again there is background to that), and Yes there is so much more going on in this wedding… but we can’t fit it all into the title. To give this wedding its shortened version… Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Sarah & Joe’s BLAINFEST Festival wedding!
Before we get into it big shout outs to Sarah & Joe the Bride and Groom for sharing the photos and to their awesome Wedding Photographer Nellie Photography who took all the wedding photos you see here, check out more of her work at her website nelliephotography.co.uk
Ok so to set this up a little more we have been wanting to show you this wedding for a long time, we have been sitting on it for over a year but could not find enough time in our busy days to get it posted but we got there. This is probably the coolest most awesome festival wedding we have been involved with (we know we say that with every cool wedding) but this one really jumps out in an explosion of multi coloured awesomeness!! If you are a Bride or Groom to be currently planning your festival wedding you are going to absolutely love this Festival Wedding Extravaganza!!
So let’s get into it… where to begin? The start of course! Sarah & Joe are a gorgeous music mad festival loving couple from England with a love of living life and having fun in full magical technicolour! They love Coldplay, they love Kylie, they love Colour and they like to do things a little different with a large splash of magic involved.
The most epic wedding proposal ever (kinda involving Kylie Minogue)…
which can also be titled as…
Amazing Glastonbury Festival Wedding Engagement proposal…
You can decide on what suits best but either way Joe went above and beyond when it came to popping the question to Sarah.
So to set the scene (and this must have taken some serious planning, fair play Joe!) It’s Sunday afternoon at Glastonbury Festival 2019, the sun is splitting the perfectly blue sky, Kylie Minogue make’s her long awaited debut at Glastonbury festival’s Sunday Legend’s slot (essentially a headline slot) 14 years after she was due to headline but had to cancel due to illness. The pyramid stage field is packed out with thousands of music fan’s dancing and singing in the sun…. Kylie is playing her hit song ‘Love at first sight’… A plane flies over the pyramid stage pulling a banner that reads… ‘SARAH ADAM’S MARRY ME? JOE’ …
Joe taps Sarah on the shoulder and tells her look up at the Plane…. It takes a second but then starts to become clear and as Sarah turns around Joe is down on one knee with Engagement ring in hand (the engagement ring was secretly made onsite at Glastonbury by the way just a few days earlier!!
Joe does not mess around guys! He is a pro!!) and well the rest you can probably figure out…. Just imagine all of this for a second, this is next level!! Well played Joe you are the man!!
So obviously a weekend of celebrating follows and memories that will last for ever…. they even appeared on BBCÂ TVÂ few weeks later to tell their story, next level cool! So that was the wedding proposal… now time to plan the wedding… you just know its going to be epic if that was the starting point…
Festival Bride Instagram
Here at WEDFEST we obviously love all things to do with Festival Weddings and Festival Brides and we were actually aware of this proposal here at Wedfest HQ as we had saw it on Instagram. Once Sarah started planning her wedding she set up an Instagram account to document their story, their journey in planning their wedding and to provide inspiration to other brides and grooms who may also be planning festival weddings, you can check out her page at www.instagram.com/festivalbride2021/
Insta Wedding Inspiration
We had actually come across this on one of our many endless scrolls through insta and loved everything about their epic engagement. But we were super delighted when Sarah actually got in touch with us a few months later asking us to create their wedding stationery for their festival wedding… I mean she came to the right place of course! 🙂 But still we were made up, even though it was about 10 or 12 emails in before we put 2 and 2 together and realised that this was the same couple from the Glastonbury Engagement story haha! but we got there in the end!! 🙂
So yes of course we were super excited to be working with Sarah & Joe on their wedding stationery and could not wait to get started.
BLAINFEST Glastonbury Inspired Festival Wedding Stationery
Sarah got in touch initially looking for us to create them some festival inspired wedding invitations, wristbands and lanyards… We got started with some festival designs for their invites but then (like I said above) we realised this was the same couple that got engaged at Glasto so we started to put more of a Glasto twist on the designs.
For the wedding invitations the couple wanted to send out festival lanyards as their invites. Sarah informed us that they were getting married at a venue called Elmbridge Farm and that the wedding would be held in huge wedding teepees by a lake, so we worked that into the lanyard card design along with some nods to Glastonbury festival with the big stage in the background a festival style logo for the BLAINFEST heading. By the way BLAINFEST was the name of the wedding as BLAIN was to be the couples surname once they got married, but you probably already figured that out!
On the reverse side of the cards was the wedding festival running order detailing all the times of the day including the ceremony time, speeches, food, live music, first dance etc. We also added in a little aeroplane flying over the sky pulling a banner saying Sarah and Joe in tribute to their engagement at Glastonbury.
The neck lanyards themselves are worthy of being handed out at any major music festival if we do say so ourselves 🙂 They are pure beautiful 🙂 featuring the BLAINFEST logo we designed with a yellow to orange gradient and the couples names printed throughout the length of the lanyard perfectly matching the design on the cards and setting this wedding invite up as the invitation to the wedding of the year! and it was!
Festival Teepee Wedding at Elmbridge Farm, Droitwich
Ok so we have built it up enough now so lets get a look at this awesome festival wedding of Sarah & Joe’s…
The wedding took place at Elmbridge Farm, Droitwich which is a gorgeous wedding venue in Worcestershire featuring a huge wedding Teepee at the side of a lake where spectacularly beautiful weddings can take place. This was the location for Blainfest and it was everything you can imagine thanks to Sarah & Joes fantastic wedding planning and vision to bring their ultimate festival to life for their big day.
The day started off with guests arriving to the fabulous wedding venue to be greeted by a sea of multicoloured magic, the whole venue had been transformed by Sarah & Joe into the most colourful and fun looking festival you have ever seen….. just imagine if the people behind Coldplay’s Live shows organised a wedding, this would be it… it should all be no surprise that couple are also huge Coldplay fans.
Sarah and Joe got ready on site at the venues cottages before making their way down to the lakeside where the wedding ceremony was taking place outdoors. The seating was made from hay bales and the guests drank Pimm’s from Jam Jar style containers, all while wearing their Festival Lanyards and Festival wristbands (more on those later) and other festival accessories that the couple had provided for their guests. It is impossible to point out every detail of their wedding as every time we look at the photos we spot something else, the attention to detail to create this festival wedding masterpiece is insane so take your time and look at it all as they put a lot of work into this.
Once the wedding ceremony was over it was time for some festival fun. The couple had provided large outdoor games for the wedding guests and their was of course live music, drinks, food and lots of fun to be had all throughout this day.
Festival Wedding Flowers
As you can see by the photos the whole day was bright and colourful and the wedding flowers were no different. Sarah had a beautiful colourful wedding bouquet which jumps out of the photos and features all the colours of the rainbow.
Festival Wedding Signage
While the guests relaxed and had a drink or two the couple had their wedding photos taken at various spots around their festival site including beside their BLAINFEST Festival sign. Of course they had a festival sign! In fact they had Glastonbury style festival signage all over the venue letting guests know where things where at and what direction to go…
Festival Wedding Line Up Poster
As well as the signage outside the Wedding Tipi the couple had a festival wedding line up poster board which we created which was on display for the guests to know what was happening and when throughout the day…
Festival Wedding Wristbands
So like we said above one of the wedding favours or festival accessories that the couple provided for their guests was of course festival wedding wristbands. You cannot go to a music festival without a festival wristband and a festival wedding is no different, it is nearly as important as the invite itself!
You know that once you get that Glastonbury wristband it is not coming off for a few weeks (if not much more) so for this wedding we wanted to design a festival wedding wristband that the guests would also want to wear for a while once the wedding was over and we are delighted with the result as was the happy couple, and judging by the photos so were all the wedding guests who all were rocking their wristbands throughout the big day.
The festival wedding wristbands followed the design and rainbow colour scheme from the lanyards and used the over sized BLAINFEST logo as the main text in the middle with their names, wedding date and venue name all printed on the tails.
These wristbands turned out amazing as you can see in the photos and we also provided Sarah & Joe a special Bride and Groom wristband for each of them to wear as after all the more wristbands the better right!
Teepee Tent Wedding Reception
Once the photos were done and the day was moving on it was time for everyone to move into the large Wedding Teepee Tent at Elmbridge Farm. The tent was amazing looking and once again the decoration and attention to detail was second to none… just check out these photos…
Festival Wedding Decor
The couple did an amazing job on the wedding reception decoration. The wedding table centre pieces were festival welly boots with flowers and little Glastonbury style festival signs identifying the name of each table. The ceiling of the tent was adorned in multi colour pom pom’s and everywhere you looked was decorated in a festival style and full of colour.
On the back of the Bride and Grooms chairs was specially handmade banners saying Mrs Blain & Mr Blain and on the front of the top table another banner read ‘love at first sight’ another nod to the pop princess Kylie Minogue.
The couple even had a Festival Neon Sign made up of the BLAINFEST logo which shone brightly all through the day and night and left no one in any doubt that they were at the wedding of year!
Glastonbury Festival themed Wedding Cake
Of course the festival wedding cake was going to extra awesome, did you even doubt it? The cake was as you might have guessed Glastonbury themed and featured the word BLAINFEST on the top tier, then the pyramid stage on the second tier and then fields of tents and camping on the bottom of the cake, super cool and the display of the cake looked amazing too.
Festival Wedding Table Plan
For the entrance of the Wedding Tipi we also made the couple a festival wedding table plan board which was on display adjacent to the festival line up board. The wedding table plan followed on from the design of the wedding invites and captured the whole scene of the day with the wedding tipi sitting at the edge of the lake with welly boots and flowers in the foreground and the huge BLAINFEST logo at the top of the table plan.
Each of the wedding tables was named after a Glastonbury Festival Stage Name so that the guests could find out where they were sitting and take their seats.
Wedding Speeches & Wedding Festival After Party
Once everyone was in their seat it was time for the BLAINFEST Festival Main Event that of course being the Speeches and then the PARTY, and boy did it look like a full on festival affair, lots of dancing, celebrating and festival vibes all around.
Sarah & Joe’s festival wedding was an absolute joy to work on and we are in so in love with the day they created and there is no doubt that any couples out there who see these photos are going to take huge inspiration from Sarah & Joe’s big day.
Once again thanks to Sarah & Joe for sharing the photos, we wish them every happiness in their future together and hope to bump into you as Glasto sometime 🙂 and also Sarah at Nellie Photography for the amazing photography, check out more of her work at her website by clicking here…
